I was hesitant to put an electric wok on my wedding registry last year, but my mom convinced me that I would get a lot of use out of it. I don't like to have too much stuff in the kitchen, and I worried that I would end up using it a few times a year, and then would have to deal with it taking up kitchen space for the rest of the year. Now, I use it more than just about any other appliance in the kitchen. I use it a few times a week now. I stir fry a lot, and this is great for veggies - I find that when I stir fry in a regular pan, the vegetables get soggy; same with tofu. Also, I feel that it reduces cooking time significantly for tofu and veggies; meat cooks quickly and browns nicely in this wok.
The bowl detaches from the base unit for cleaning. A terrific investment - I'm glad I have it.

One of the best purchases I've made. This wok may be pricier than other similar appliances, but it is worth it. I do quite a bit of shopping on Amazon, but if you are military, you can score this wok on the AAFES website for substantially less. It is very heavy duty and the highest setting does a terrific job with searing. I love the non-stick finish, too. I've used the wok to cook several one-dish meals like Filipino pansit and even risotto. It did a fantastic job with stir-fry shrimp. I had never cooked with a wok before, so I'm still learning the basic cooking principles. For instance, temperature settings to stir fry are important. Also, for food to cook the way you want it to, sometimes ingredients must be cooked in batches and then combined. This purchase comes with a couple of perks - the sturdy slotted spatula that protects the wok's finish and the user's guide that has cooking tips and great recipes.

This wok is wonderful. It's everything I thought it would be and more. I wish the sides were about two inches higher but it is a very large wok. The directions say to heat it for several minutes before cooking but it only takes a minute to heat up. It holds the heat at a uniform temperature so veggies and meat cook evenly. Very easy cleaning. Money well spent.
