The Baby Kahuna wok station exceeded my expectations upon arrival. It was packaged well and complete. Operationally, the 65,000BTU burner is more than adequate for any cooking situation that I can think of. It makes a perfect companion for camp cooking and a nice addition for the backyard BBQ.

I bought this wok after comparing 3 different wok. I choose this because of the weight and the size of the wok. I just like the design and the look of it, looks much more like my mum's beat up wok except nicer.



lodge pro logica bit heavier and deep. may be just meant to be on the stove top all the time. the other french made a bit on shallow side, if just for stir fry vegetable for 2 may be ok. with staub, i've done fried rice for 4, 1 medium size steam fish, use with 10" bamboo steamer for shumai, just name it. I love mine. Plus the matte black one goes well with my other cast iron collection.

The Staub wok is ready to use immediately.



Staub enameled cast iron products are highly durable. They do not discolor or rust, they resist chipping, and do not require seasoning.



The interior, as well as the exterior surfaces are enameled iron. The durable black ---matte--- enamel interior, as with all Staub cast iron, doesn't need seasoning. The more you use your Staub product, the better it gets! Oils used when cooking will penetrate the pores of the ---matte enamel--- and create a natural, smooth, nonstick surface, just like a finely seasoned non-enameled iron pan. The smooth enameled exterior is easier to clean.



Staub made a wonderfully functional design decision to coat the interior with a matte surface, while coating the exterior of the pan with the traditional smooth surface.

This is a very nice item. My only complaint is that it is available only as a set that includes right and left handed models. Whether you are right or left handed, one is going to sit in a drawer. I would have preferred to be able to buy two of the one I needed.

At just over 10 1/4", it will basically sit at the bottom of the wok, so you can't get a lot of steam going, and it's certainly not a lot of surface area to work with. Since this was for a 14-16" wok, I was hoping for something 12" or wider.

This steamer works well, but it's hard to remove small-cut vegetables/items from it since there's no handle. The steamer has a tendency to shift if you try and use a spoon or even tongs to remove the items and I don't want everything getting wet in the 1,000 degree water below especially my hands. It's very durable and will last a lifetime. I may "mickey mouse" a handle or a chain to make my life easier. Have a nice day.

Our Unique Production Process
Our wok is unique as we employ the traditional wok-making method. In hours of deafening hammering and intense heat, a carbon steel disc undergoes constant rotation and hammering by the skillful hands of our wok craftsmen. The structure of the metal is gradually changed, giving it greater strength and durability.

The Reason for a Wok

The round bottom shape of a wok is the original design that has existed for two thousand years. The semi-spherical curve of the work offers maximum cooking surface and minimal fuel contact. The concave shape makes stirring easy as ingredients can be partially placed up on the sides without spilling. It is also ideal for deep-frying with minimum amounts of oil.

With proper care, a wok provides a natural non-stick surface and requires less oil for cooking. Carbon steel conducts heat efficiently. The wok heats up and cools down quickly and provides the cook with the maximum control over the fire.

This gift set includes our signature 14 hand-hammered carbon steel wok, a hand-made bamboo steamer, a wok ring for kitchen without stove rack, a spatula for stir-frying, a ladle for handling the sauce, a pair of cooking chopsticks and a traditional bamboo brush for cleaning the wok after use. well, hard to say. first of all, this isn't for you if you have an electric stove. it just doesn't get hot enough. i even bought a second wok ring to lower it a bit and it still doesn't reach ideal heat. i'm not sure whether its' the cookware itself, or just the fact that it isn't made for an electric stove. i can tell you it is indeed hand hammered, all the pieces of the set came and were as expected. all in all it is a beautiful wok, just not sure it gets hot enough. oh, and don't try to contact the company thru the phone number they give in their instruction booklet, it's not even the right number and the people there acted like they thought i was crazy. not sure how that happens, but they give the wrong number in their own pamphlet.
