This is a wok and it does everything expected from it. My wife loves it and its been a hit with her. Of course the only drawback i find is that cleaning this thing takes quite an effort. The stains dont leave so easily and also there is this residue-ish like stain which sticks around even after cleaning the hell out of it. But it dosent cause hte food to taste any different or funky. Very sturdy item. I would recommend it.

I purchased these because I got a new set of non stick pots and pans that I wanted to use them with. I had heard that bamboo was great with non stick. They showed up and are totally bare wood. Although they are made out of bamboo wood, the edges aren't finished very well, and there are small visible splinters that break off when you rub your finger along the edge.I didn't realize that these weren't burnished until they arrived. If you want this set...spend an extra dollar and get the burnished set from Joyce Chen.

The Joyce Chen Bamboo Stir Fry Tools have worked out well for me so far. They've made it through the dishwasher about six times now and still look the same as the day they arrived. I use them exclusively with my Joyce Chen Wok that I seasoned myself (not the nonstick variety). They work well at flipping chicken around and stirring sauces. I also use them to clean the little bits of food off the pan after each use with hot water. They have worked out a lot better than the plastic and metal spatulas I had been using until I received these tools. The metal spatulas scratched the patina off and the plastic spatulas melted. This product actually worked better than I expected.

So, two minutes of preheating with oil for a stirfry on meidum-high heat and a small explosion and fire started, then once the flames were out and the billows of smoke cleared, the non-stick coating poured off. Not peeled, but POURED off Bad product. I bought a wok for stir-fry which requires a hot wok. I have used many woks at much higher temperatures, and never had this kind of experience. They were a much higher quality, but I would not expect this kind of reaction even if I paid $10 for it rather than the $30 paid.



Avoid at all costs. This product is dangerous.

Hi, I bought one of Chen's non-stick woks -- and gave it to a friend so I could free up cabinet space to buy Chen's steel flat bottomed wok (for my electric stove). You are not supposed to preheat the non-stick wok too high, and never without oil in it. Well, to stir fry, you want to get it real hot, so the non-stick limitation defeats the purpose.



I've had no problem with Chen's steel wok without non-stick coating -- you just have season it with oil and heat following the directions. Then each time you use it, wash it in hot water only (no soap or detergent), dry it, and rub a bit of oil on it after each use. I've enjoyed using the plain steel wok a few times a week for more than six months.



Really, don't be afraid to buy Chen's steel wok instead. You don't need a non-stick wok.

I received this in Christmas, the 2nd time I cooked pork chop with it (the type with bones attached), I washed it right after I cooked the food, scratches were found. I never used any utensils to scratch it. I couldn't believe any wok would easily scratch like this one. It's a piece of junk. The bonus bamboo streamer is useless really. The only thing in that set I think is the most reliable is the bamboo spatula.

I also had a problem with the coating flaking off... within the first week of using it. The only reason I still use it is because I'm a poor college student that got it as a gift in the first place and can't afford a new one. After scrubbing the inside bottom of the wok furiously, I managed to get all the flakes off and then some. The lid is made of thin aluminum and has bent almost completely out of shape. Awful product. DO NOT BUY THIS WOK.

I purchased a 7" double steamer last year for only $20 so thought it was worth a try. I got so much use out of it that I decided I would like a larger better quality one...and this is it! The quality of this item is very impressive and as stated in a note, it has a glass lid. They really should update the pic because what I received looks much nicer. Steaming is a very easy way to cook and recipes can be found online...the larger size opens up more possibilities such as whole fish fillets. I prefer homemade potato salad and with a steamer you can actually peel and cut the potatoes to size before cooking them as with this method they don't disintegrate in the water. I know there are lots of electronic steamers out there, but I really don't see the point, just another electronic gizmo on your counter top...if your stove can boil water this is all you need. I highly recommend this steamer...a well deserved five stars!

This steamer comes with two steamer inserts and is so huge that I could cook an entire meal for 4 people in it. It is really well made and the handles are a good size for lifting it. It comes with a glass lid and I haven't had the heat problem that another reviewer experienced and have been able to lift the lid without a oven glove. Now used it 6 or 7 times since it arrived about a week ago and love it. My only grumble is that I have to wash it by hand as it fills my dishwasher on its own, but thats a small price to pay!

My unit came with a little bit of red on the handles. It's adorable and works great and quickly. The only downfall is that the knob on the glass lid became hot enough to have to use a pot holder to remove it. The tray handles did not get too hot. It's well made and sturdy.
